HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Title: Slowly
Pairing/Group: Ohmiya/Arashi
Rating: G
Warnings: None.
Notes: ♥♥♥ merry christmas.
Summary: Nino falls in love slowly over the years.

When Arashi forms, Nino likes Ohno because neither of them like Arashi. They share hiding spots and complaints, put on matching smiles for the cameras. Even though they barely know each other, there aren't any walls between them. Nino doesn't mistake this for him being special - before long even Jun is trailing Ohno like a lost puppy, and Sho never yells at him, like he does at everyone else. At least Aiba never changes - right from when their group name is announced, the flow of affection he pours into the group is unhalting and unbiased.

Still, Nino likes to think, childishly, when he's been away from home too long and can't keep his mind quiet enough to sleep, that Ohno likes him best. That maybe there's an upside to this whole mess if Ohno pays a little more attention to him than to anyone else. It's a weird thing to think and Nino tries not to, but he can't help but let his mind stray when it's late enough to be early the next morning and his eyes refuse to close.

---

Time goes by, as unstoppable as Aiba with a plan, and things seem to get better. Nino's never really believed that things get better with time and he still doesn't - you just get more used to it. But Jun grows up and slowly lowers his guard and his teenaged knowledge that he's just a little bit better than everyone else slowly fades. Sho stops stressing, doesn't yell as much as before. And Aiba doesn't change, except maybe he does, in ways Nino doesn't know or notice, and he likes it that way.

Nino likes to think that he and Ohno are alike in this respect. That they've both long gotten over the short-lived grudges that a job like theirs is quick to get rid of, and they can like Arashi now. Nino knows he thinks strange things, which is why he knows to keep them thoughts and nothing more. You don't need to think with the kind of work he has, and that's probably why such strange things sneak in his head and don't leave. He doesn't mind, though, which is probably the strangest part.

---

There's a breaking point. When Aiba reads his letter, the careful walls, the small things they hide, the unspoken thoughts, all fall apart, right on television. They don't talk about it, but everything's different after that, a wordless agreement. The touches that make the fans scream stop being awkward, the teasing and bickering doesn't have the old poison behind it. Nino starts saying things that he didn't think would ever leave his thoughts and nobody seems to mind. Ohno smiles a bit, even, a small kind of smile that Nino loves seeing because the cameras rarely catch it and even then, only by accident.

After that, Nino can't seem to hold back any more. He's always been a touchy sort of person, he likes bumping shoulders and hips, curling closer to people, just to be reminded that they're there. Jun likes his space, Aiba never sits still long enough, and Sho feels crowded, but Nino thinks he's found the perfect person for his constant, mindless touches in Ohno. Sometimes Nino can't help but wonder if he has a little crush on Ohno.

---

The first time Nino kisses Ohno, it's kind of an accident and kind of not. It's kind of an accident because Nino says it is, and it's kind of not because it wasn't. Ohno shrugs a bit, straightens his costume, then straightens Nino's, and they run out on stage to do their Ohmiya SK skit. Nino thinks about how he could have picked a better time to act on his urges, really, but then wonders if that would've made it look less accidental, and then wonders what Ohno thinks about the whole ordeal. All of the thinking makes him almost trip over his own feet three times before the skit is over.

Aiba is thrilled that, for once, there's someone less coordinated than him, but Sho looks worried and asks if anything's wrong, and though Jun makes some comment about learning to walk properly, he has the same worry in his eyes. Ohno's absent from this little gathering, still in the shower, and Nino's glad. Ohno doesn't seem to notice things, but Nino knows he does, somehow, and he doesn't want to give Ohno any ideas (especially if they turn out to be right).

---

They've been together nine years now, and Nino's pretty sure he loves Arashi. He's pretty sure he loves Ohno, too, but he doesn't say that so freely. Not with words, at least, though he can't help but practically make a sport of grabbing at him, both on and off television. Whole interviews have been set around how they act with each other, and they've "kissed" more than once for the crowds, had a few more accidental ones without the crowd, but they never really get to saying things like I love you and the other gushy words girls would die to hear.

Nino likes to think that Ohno loves him back. That even though his life is pretty hard to complain about at the moment, it could be a little better if Ohno loves him as much as he loves Ohno. That maybe one day they'll say those gushy words once, and maybe even be together, properly, and not just have a few accidental kisses. Nino wishes he didn't have to consider the media and their image, but he does, and if he’s never really loved that bit of the industry before, he hates it now.

---

Nino stops thinking so much and starts talking, and Ohno always listens. Nino's positive he loves Arashi now, and Ohno too, and Ohno loves him back. They exchange gushy words and kisses on purpose and the media goes crazy. The other members say it's about time and Ohno's mom makes Nino promise to take care of him, and, really, Nino can't think of any way his life could be improved more than this.

They're curled up on their couch, not doing much of anything except staying squished together for warmth and occasionally fidgeting to grab at the food cartons spread out in front of them. They spend their first Christmas like that, together, properly together, and Nino feels so happy that he can't even find it in himself to complain when the rest of Arashi, armed with a camera crew, burst in the next morning at dawn to do a segment about couples in love. (None of them ever get a spare key again, but Jun says it was worth it for the ratings, and grins.)
