I might not know much about Ryo/Shige, and even less about Shige at all, but I couldn't miss a JE/Pratchett crossover fic! (neither the My Little Pony pun in the title, instant attention catcher if anyone asks me!)
I admit I didn't read yet Equal Rites (which I regret now :x), so nuances and some parts of plot remained a mystery to me, but I enjoyed your descriptions of Granny Weatherwax! It was really a magical, out of the world moment when they meet. I don't think I ever read a crossover with such emotional mood like this before! It even has this slightly chaotic feeling some of the Pratchett books seem to have, and eventually made me miss Rincewind and his failish successes, and all the crazyness The Discworld was in it's beginings XD
For the characters, Yoko was definitely my favourite! I really found him very charming in your story. He was like a small boy busybody, blabbling nonstop about what his friends were doing, and smiling and being everywhere where the food is and trying to be so discreet about it, pretending to be of help or support, and not at all around just to sneak on the food. Like he was too impatient to wait in the room or probably knowing Ohkura would be first to eat the whole food otherwise, no matter his good or bad mood XD
Now, few quotes I particularly enjoyed, I hope you don't mind!
"Yoko was the most cheerful guy he knew, despite his pranks, but they were never mean." ---> never mean pranks of Yoko? XD Shige must be sooo naive XD Yoko is almost a small smiling devil and I have no idea how delusional Shige has to be not to see it~
"not really keen on going back to the kitchen to witness whatever Yoko was doing with the dinner buffet he had prepared earlier" ---> aka "what have been eaten already and if anything even survived to be served" XDD
"Next time he went over Koyama’s place though, Shige realized his body handled allergy a bit better than before, and Yoko’s grin as he reported the fact was worth not scolding him for once." ---> sooo cute! I like the image of Yoko's grin combined with the mysterious occurances happening in their lives all of a sudden!
"Only Maru, despite smiling widely, had questions in his eyes as Yoko seemed so smug every time Hina’s favorite team missed a ball, even high fiving Shige when the opposite team scored goals after goals, much to Hina’s dismay" ---> happy couple this YokoHina is :D Yoko cheering whenever Hina's team loses is so priceless XD
"and above all never touched the weird looking lugagge he brought with him sometimes, and Shige must have drunk too much a couple times, because he would swear he saw it walking to follow Yoko..." ---> OMG OMG OMG ISN'T THIS THE FAMOUS WALKING STALKING LUGGAGE!!! And going after Yoko kyaaaaa!!! Best image ever! I wish I could read a fic where the main character is Yoko and his luggage :D
"Maru eventually calmed him down by repeating that you don’t judge your friend on their belongings, and it would be stupid to leave such a nice apartment, now that they found a place to gather everyone around." ---> Perfect place it is indeed :D where Hina watches his soccer games whole weekends, and when he isn't, it's Yoko playing his video games on big tv screen. Is it really Maru and Shige's flat, and not YokoHina's XDD? though I guess the rest of their bunch made themselves just as comfortable, half-living together with the proper owners XD (also worth marking hilarious phrase with the "don't judge your friends by their belongings" XDD awww Maru~~) and that window~~ it's like Yoko discovered his own personal magic world! I'm completely charmed by all the hidden plots <3 And thoroughout the whole fic I felt like I'm peeping at the story through the neighbor's windows and I need to admit it was an interesting experience XD
It was really a cute story, and I wish I could read more of it, Pratchet/Kanjani seems totally a win idea for me :) I totally wouldn't mind a sequel! <3
