So I've noticed a few of my lj friends doing this 30 days meme and I feel like I'd enjoy tackling it. At this point in my life, I'm not delusional enough to think that I'm the kind of person who can keep up with a daily blog, but I really like the idea of writing something everyday, so I'm going to go ahead and attempt this. I want to try to do it first thing during a day to get my brain juices a flowin'.
So...
Day 01 → Your favorite song:
Since it wasn't specific about whether I should select an all-time favorite or a favorite of the moment, I'll give you one of each "Kids" by MGMT and "Back Into Your Head" by Tegan and Sara

The actual music video for the song has a version of the song that I don't like as much, so you get this bare-bones one instead. When I first heard this song almost a year ago, I had grown tired of my old music and the radio is fun, but not good music. I sort of came to the conclusion that I hated music, but this song was the perfect combination of all of my favorite kinds of music. I love electronic music, good beats, and music with a decently unique sound. I really love the instrumental portion, which is the main appeal of the song, but the vocals work well, too. I've been broadening my horizons a lot lately because I realize that music that I enjoy exists, I just have to find it.
So, I figured that since I love their music so much and this song in particular, that was enough to make it my favorite song. It's like a lifetime achievement award.

Lately I've been really really into lesbian music. I can't explain it but I now find myself constantly listening to Tegan and Sara, Santigold, Feist, and The New Pornographers. I guess I'm just a big ol' indie dyke at heart, but I can accept that. Anyway, this song also has a good beat and decent lyrics, which is kind of all it takes for me. The piano and verses are especially catchy and this is one of their most palatable songs.
Also things I dislike in general about music (Bad/unnecessary bridges and annoying/overly repetitive choruses) are not present in both of these songs. So that's a plus.

and here's a short explanation of my life right now:
I'm finishing my second to last semester at Pitt.
Preparing for graduation and joining the real world for a year or two before I go running back into the open arms of graduate school. I interviewed with Teach for America and will soon find out if I'll be with them for the next two years.
I've been working at the Warhol museum in Pittsburgh for the past 6 months and I really enjoy it.
I'm now 3 of the top 10 hits for Nikos Giannopoulos on google. Still including the #1 hit of me as a 15 year old being weird. I hope future employers don't mind it.
