I was reading through the comments of a DBSG article and some chick was laying out how all the Korean fans had it hard because Korea has supposedly labeled DBSK as fully 'disbanded'. She said how people were mocking her for keeping her faith and how news of the separation was everywhere and served as a horrible reminder to her loss and pain. That's all fine and dandy, but shit, that's only whats been going on for year or so, dude. You Koreans have it so fucking bad because they split up? Hagh. Imagine being American.
This is the story. First off, and I mean we gotta make a list because this shit is long, first off, even knowing DBSK and enjoying their music is a joke in America. A gay looking pretty boy band that is from Korea? Your fucking me right? Wrong. And then the shit storm starts.
-My mother called them Chinese gay boys, that or Vietnamese, or Japanese, and when i corrected her she said (QUOTE) "aw, who cares, they are all Asian anyways. They all look the same and we all killed them in war."
-My aunt everyday, without cease, asks whether or not I have forgotten about those pretty boys yet. I say no, she says "Oh, one day you will grow out of it."
-My father calls me abnormal, and after figuring out my Yunjae obsession, brings up Jesus anytime he possibly can. Reminding me how each member is going to hell and how them loving each other is no better than loving a dog.
Look, I'm not trying to one up anyone here. Korean fans had a hay day of DBSK, a few years worth. Like our BSB times a thousand, because there was no rap to mock them and no goths to scare them. While on the other hand American fans live in a whole other world where liking flower boys is fucked up from start to finish. I've actually hit the point where I hide DBSK from my American friends. They ask me who my favorite band is I reply Poison, because I cannot deal with people asking me;
"Why do you listen to Asian music? You can't even understand it!"
"What are they saying?"
"Are they like the Asian BSB?"
"Are they chicks, or just gay?"
I'M FUCKING SICK OF IT.
This doesn't happen to every fan, but to me, and to a lot of people I know. We feel ashamed being a DBSK fan. I don't want to be, holy fuck I don't want to be, but I cannot help it. This is America everything is about what everyone else thinks about you. Fit in or get out. I don't fit in, then I'll suppose I will get out. I'll go hang with those Korean wine bags.
