Summary: "Umma!" She called out to the man. Her voice was sweet and made every word heart-warmingly cute. "Umma, you had such pretty hair." She smiled, a lopsided, toothy smile.
The little girl ran her slightly pudgy fingers across the clean glass. She traced the outlines of the faces in the frames and gasped every now and then at the beauty. Her mouth stood agape as she admired the snowy photograph. A raven haired man looked up from the cooking he was doing on the stove to survey the girls actions. He smiled slightly at her awed state. "Umma!" She called out to the man. Her voice was sweet and made every word heart-warmingly cute. "Umma, you had such pretty hair." She smiled, a lopsided, toothy smile. The man smiled back, a more subtle one.
He turned down the heat under their dinner and walked over to the girl. "You liked it brown?" He asked leaning over and studying the picture.
It was a beautiful photograph of the man, his hair long and stunningly light brown, and another man. The other was taller and hardly smiling. Not that he wasn't happy, the raven haired man thought about that day it was taken, it was snowing and them and their friends were cold, but he knew he had been very happy.
The group of friends had got back from admiring the first snow of the year, kicking it off with a no mercy snowball fight. The taller man had been the leader of the losing team. He remembered he was also a part of the team but he was much more into playing with his friends in the snow than winning or losing. The group was walking home, everyone thurley numbed from the cold and ready for some heat, but he had stopped the other boy for a quick picture. The sun had just started going down as the boy stood shivering in his large winter boots waiting for the smaller brown haired boy to fish the camera from his over sized jacket. After finding it he smiled up at the boy, because whatever the environment or time the smaller always seemed to be happy. But, the other was known for his overly unhappiness when he was uncomfortable and overly happiness when he was excited, And as he stood there, slowly turning into a human popsicle, he was not very comfortable. The brunet promised one quick picture as he snuggled up to the side of the boy and held the camera out in front of them. He smiled as big as he could while the taller just slightly turned up the corner of his mouth. The camera flashed, capturing the moment of cold innocence forever, and it was returned to the snow dusted coat. The two boys walked off shoulder to shoulder talking about how nice their homes will be when they get to it.
"Thats Appa right?" She poked the slightly red and gloomy face.
"Yeah it is," The man stood up and smiled at his daughter when she gasped and placed her face closer to the glass. "Why? Does he not look like himself?"
"He looks so young!" She exclaimed. "like Oppa's age!"
"We were older than him, Da Eun, by about 4 years."
"Really?" She looked from him then back to the picture.
The man smiled as he patted her soft black hair, "Really," He laughed. She smiled back at his beautiful face and followed the tail of his pink apron back to the stove. "Do you want to help me with dinner?" She nodded her pig tailed head up and down as the man lifted her up to stand on a chair.
"You were pretty with brown hair, Umma." The girl said as she examined the mans raven head. "Why don't you have it now?"
"I don't know," He mumbled as he added spices to the heating dish "I just didn't keep up with it I guess."
"I bet Appa liked it that color." She leaned over on the counter.
He smiled and gently pushed at her arms to back her up away from the hot stove. "I bet he did. It was that color when we had our first kiss."
"First kiss?!" She gasped.
"You want to know about it?"
"Tell me~!" She wiggled her butt as she starred wide eyed at the man.
"OK," He laughed "Don't eat me." He paused to gather his thoughts and stir the contents of the bowl a time before starting. "It was actually not long after that picture was taken. The early summer after that winter. We were at a picnic lunch with friends, you remember Junsu, Yoochun and Changmin?"
"Yeah, they were here last Christmas." She squeaked.
"Yes they were." Jaejoong smiled. "Anyways, it was at that lunch that the subject of the rest of our lives came up. I don't really remember how, but I know every one was in deep thought about it going home."
"Aish, Umma! Just get to he kissing!"
"Why are you in such a rush, young lady? Don't you want to hear how your parents fell in love?"
"I guess..." The girl pouted.
"Good," The man smiled. "Now, where was I? Oh yeah, leaving the lunch. I got a ride from Appa on the back of his sports bike,-"
"Appa had a sports bike!?!" The little girl gasped. Her eyes wide and her mouth agape.
"Yes, it was very cool. Now stop talking, I thought you wanted to know this story?" He snapped, but couldn't help but smile at the girl's pout. "Sooo, when I got home I expected to say a quick goodbye them go in, but Appa pulled me to the side of my yard, under a big tree." The child's eyes got bigger. "I remember the exact words he told me under that tree. He said 'Boo, I was thinking about it and I realized I'm not very sure of anything to come in the future, any jobs or education I want. But I am sure of one thing I most definitely will need, I need you to be there.'-"
"Then he kissed you!?!" She yelled, her eyes huge with anticipation.
"Yes," He sighed as he absentmindedly stirred the pot. "And it was wonderful." A moment of calm silence took over as both persons imagined the scene, until the little girl caught a small movement of black from the white living room,
"Appa!" The little girl's loud yell of happiness pulled the man out of his dream land to notice another man entering the kitchen. The man bent down in his crisp business suit and swept up the little girl with one arm. "Did you hear me and Umma talking?" She asked him.
"I did," He smiled, looking at the other man who blushed and turned towards the stove. The business man gently put down the little girl and walked over to the man's back, wrapping his arms around the thin waist and resting his head on the others shoulder. "I heard it all." He softly whispered.
The smaller man leaned over to nuzzle his cheek against the other's. "Did you like what you heard, Appa?" he cooed.
The taller man raised his hand from the other's waist to lift his chin up. "It was wonderful, Umma." He smiled as he leaned down to capture his wife's rose red lips.
"So cute~!" The girl squealed as the beautiful couple smiled into their kiss.
A/N: This came really randomly while looking at
this picture (PS: thats how the little girl looks, in case I didn't describe her good enough). I like how it turned out, and, despite the evil writers block on all my other works, its not that short. Hope you enjoy it, comments are loved ^__^
