more hopeful career options

Today, I had conversations with both my boss and my sometimes-boss about a variety of things, including both office space and the future of my career in Computing Services. As it turns out, neither is quite as bleak as I had assumed.

As far as office space, there are enough justifiable reasons for me to stay where I am and not move to what I consider to be a lesser space. Since I'm not currently a part of the team which may be moving into the great windowless void, there's less reason for me to move in with them.

As far as my future career goes, there appear to be some potentially interesting projects coming available in the near future. I need to take some time and consider what parts of my job I like, what parts I hate, and what parts I just tolerate, but I am at least hopeful that there are jobs available that I want to do.

I'm still going to consider my options outside of Computing Services and CMU, but perhaps not as urgently as I thought last night. Both of my bosses seem interested in keeping me around and making sure that I have enough opportunities to keep me interested.

Of course, if someone dangles a suitcase full of cash in front of me, and offers me interesting work with good chances of future opportunities, I'd likely take it with barely a second thought.

I'm just saying.
