The clouds move and a streak of afternoon light sifts through the blinds, casting shadows over the stillness of the room. At the end of a darkened hallway, in the kitchen, the faucet is leaking and the pitter-patter echoes.

It’s the season of dying and falling leaves. It’s red and orange outside just before an endless white sheet covers everything.

For a supposedly chilly season, the wind is warm.

“…Did you hear me, Kazuya? Kazuya?”

Kazuya curls his toes and breathes into the phone, “No, Jin. I can’t hear a thing. The line is choppy.”
