Author's Notes: Just plain silly kid stuff.

Six year old Ryo hid behind his mother's legs as the young girl in the dress waved at him, "Hi! I'm Hiroki."

Ryo merely stared at her before up at his mom. She promised him there was going to be another boy to play with.

"Hiro. Why don't you bring Ryo upstairs to play with your games."

"Okay kaasan!" Hiroki reached over and grabbed Ryo's hand, tugging him to the room.

Ryo's mother watched them go, sighing softly as she shook her head. "Oi. Hiroki is going to have a complex if you keep dressing him up as a girl!"

*~*~*

"Let go of me!" Ryo pulled his sweaty hand away.

Hiroki's lips quivered, "I.. thought you wanted to be my friend."

Ryo felt bad but there was no way he was going to play with a girl! Crossing his arms, he scowled, "My brother told me girls have cooties."

Wiping his tears with the back of his hand, Uchi frowned, "but I'm a boy."

"Noooooo you are a girl."

"Boy."

"GIRL!"

"BOY!"

"PROVE IT THEN!!"

Not seeing any problem with that, Hiroki lifted up his dress and pulled his undies down. "SEE. BOY!"

Ryo gasped. "You're weird!"

"No. You're weird."

*~*~

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. Please. Preeeeeeeeeeeetty please." Hiroki begged over and over again as he sent his mother the best puppy eyes he could muster up.

Sighing, his mother shook her head, "Kazuya's not home right now. The Kamenashi's are on vacation, honey. Remember?"

Little Hiroki crossed his arms and stomped his feet. "Then who am I going to play with!?" he exclaimed loudly.

His mother patted his head, "Why don't you go over to the Nishikido's residence. Remember Ryo? You can play with him. He hasn't made any friends yet."

"No way! He's weird!"

"Hiroki."

"It's true! He doesn't play dress up!"

*~*~

"Kame-chan. It's your turn to be the wife. I was it last time," Hiroki pouted and pushed the dress toward his best friend.

"But I want to be the husband again." Kame whined, batting his lashes at Hiroki.

"That's not fair. We have to take turns."

Both stuck on what to do, they just stood there. They've never had an argument before.

"I know!" Kame quickly dug through his pockets, pulling out a cherry flavored lollipop. He grinned and stared at Hiroki. "If you let me be the
husband, I'll give you the candy."

"Deal!" Uchi quickly snatched the candy.

*~*~

"Give me your toy." Though he was scared, Ryo pretended to be strong, gripping onto his toy truck. He missed his old house and his friends.

"No."

"I said-" Just as the bigger boy was about to push him. A girly voice interrupted.

"Oi! I'm telling on you if you hit him!" The bully was scared to get in trouble so he just left.

Ryo recognized him. It was the boy/girl but he was in boys clothes this time.

"You okay?"

"Yeah…"

"Wanna race with our trucks?"

Smiling for the first time since he moved, Ryo nodded his head.
*~*~

“Are you going to come over and play games later?” Ryo asked excitedly, wanting to spend time with his new friend. His only friend.

Though the other couldn’t see it, Hiroki was shaking his head. “Kame-chan is coming over later. I’m going to play with him.”

Ryo frowned, “what about me?”

“Ryo-chan can come over too! You can meet Kame, he’s my best friend!”

“NO THANKS!” Without waiting for a response, Ryo just slammed the phone down.

Hiroki stared at the phone, surprised at how the other was acting.

“HOW RUDE!” He slammed his phone down as well.

*~*~
After telling his mother what happened, he was now being sent across the street holding a plate filled with disgusting assorted cookies. The kind he hated. He would rather have rice or noodle as a peace offering but his mom insisted on baking. After being let into the house, Ryo went straight towards Hiroki’s room. The other was on his bed, playing games.

Ryo hesitated, before coughing loudly to get the other’s attention, “… you want cookies?”

Hiroki grinned and held up his gameboy, “Want to play games?”

Nodding his head, Ryo plopped down next to him. They were friends again.
*~*~

“Moooooooooooooooooooooooommy!” Hiroki’s voice filled the air. She came rushing out, hushing the boy.

“Hiro. You’re going to wake up Aoi!”

He quickly clasped his hand over his lips.

His mother couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction. “What did you need honey.”

Finally removing his hand, Hiroki smiled. “I’m going to Ryo-chan’s house. I was just telling you.”

He quickly made his way to the door but was stopped. “Honey, Ryo starts school today. He’s not going to be home until later…”

“Oh… ok,” he pouted before sitting next to the window, waiting for his friend to come home.
*~*~
Ryo’s mother tried to pry the young boys fingers off of hers. “Come on Ryo, be a good boy. Mommy has to go now.” Once her hand were free, she bent down and kissed his cheeks before leaving.

The young boy just stood there, his hands holding onto his backpack strap as the other kids ran around, like animals. He wished Hiroki could be at school with him.

Sucking it up, he walked up to a pair of kids in the sandbox and plopped down.

“I’m Ryo and I’m playing with you guys today.”

“Ok. I’m Jin and he’s Pi.”

*~*~

Staring at all the options in front of him, Ryo stared at the toys intently, debating which one would be a better gift. A tea set or a bubble machine. Both were very Hiroki-like.. but he wanted to get the other the best gift. Hiroki has a lot of friends so Ryo already knew he was going to get a lot of gifts, so his had to be better than everyone else’s.

“Ryo. Come on. You’ve been standing there for 20 minutes. I’m sure Hiroki will like either one.”

“Mom.... can we get both?”

She sighed. “Toss them in.”
*~*~

There were kids everywhere. Inside, outside, front yard and the backyard. Mr. Uchi sighed, shaking his head. “It’s only his 4th birthday, did you really need to go all out?”

His wife glared at him, “Of course I did! He only turns 4 once!”

Mr. Uchi muttered under his breath, “he’ll only turn 5, 6, 7, and everything onwards once too.”

“What did you say?”

“Nothing dear. I was just wondering who was spending the night again.”

His wife hummed softly, trying to remember, “not that many, just his closest friends. Around 20.”

“It’s going to be a looooong night..”
