well, I can't find the other comment section, so I'll respond to it all here. First: that really sucks about going GF in college. I didn't find out you were GF until you were in that apartment, but I assumed you had been that way for nearly ever and I just hadn't noticed. Bu tYeah, just the dishes alone is enough of a cost, then on top of that the food. I'm always surprised when I find I've bought something that's GF cuz I totally associate that with a high cost, and yeah, I could see how if you had MAD gobs of time (something most students are missing), you could make SUPER healthy Gf meals for cheaper, but damn if that's not a lot of work and time.

But yeah, about the stomach (general area, not the organ itself) pain, I don't know exactly where, but there is some generalness to the innervation, which means that pain can tend to be less specific-feeling, which you probably already know. Really sharp pain that moves makes me think of appendicitis (which is way too acute for what you're going through), or pancreatitis (though I only know it to be chronic in the case of alcoholism). What kind of work ups have you had, both now and over the years? Is there any possibility of gall stones causing the pain? Do they run in your family that you know of? Have you ever been looked at for Crohn's Dz?

I think one thing that may be REALLY positive about you possibly not having CD, is that it opens up the possibility of finding what's really wrong and fixing it so it's all better, which is a really positive (though perhaps distant) outcome. Other than the floating ulcers, did the A-hole doc mention what she thought could be up with your more chronic issues? Or were you just apparently born with ulcers that take up your entire GI tract?

Oh, and in case I didn't already mention it, these are totally personal questions. I ask but don't answer if you don't feel comfortable. I just find it really helpful to remind myself why I'm in medical school when I find out someone is sick and asking them all the questions to try to narrow down a differential diagnosis. I apologize if I've over stepped your boundaries though, but please let me know if I do so i don't do it again.
