The Raid.

Awesome action/fu arts movie where the bad guy is a slum lord. Lots of great choreography that started to unravel near the end of the film. I like to think it was filmed in like 2 days and all these Asian dudes were suffering from getting kicked in the face by stunt doubles all day. Would watch again.

Tangerine Dream. Felt literary so I got my feet wet with those delightful ode to LA and the spunky transexual characters. Felt oddly out of place enjoying this film, and wasn’t sure what I was enjoying, and kept wondering if I was enjoying it for its script or something else? Better not to think about it too much, I guess.

The Crown (show on Netflix). If anyone tells me this is a boring series I will tell them THEY are a boring series.

Kantaro The Sweet Tooth Salaryman (show on Netflix). One of the good Asian productions from Netflix. Incredibly and satisfyingly stupid.

Aside: Netflix just recommended “provocative fight-the-system TV shows”. Wtf have I been watching????!

The Many Faces of Ito (film Netflix). Script probably written by a 12 year old Murakami wannabe (or me). Starbucks sit down writer’s awareness written all over its literary face. Description: “She’s a screen writer. She can read these lovesick women like a book.” WHY DID I WATCH THIS

Miss Hokusai (animated film). I didn’t entirely understand why I should care about anyone or anything in the film but it had a nice, light vignettish touch that I can appreciate

Graveyard of Fireflies (animated film, Studio Ghibli). Watched with Timu, Nick, and Mirka. Maggots on mom, end of story.

Aggretsuko (animated Netflix series). I identified with that passive aggressive little Red Panda. It ebbed and flowed but I kept coming back for the explosive death metal screaming.

Dirty Money (show on Netflix). I liked it. Th Valeant episode was cool. Not entirely certain what underlying commentary the series wanted to show, as it conflicted in big ways from episode to episode.

The Boss Baby. Timu and I have never seen it. It was on Timu’s curiosity list. He fell asleep watching it AND LEFT ME ALL ALONE WITH IT. I existentially suffered, wondering Why o why am I still watching this?

So many movies and shows. So, so many more. Just from this year. Will try and tackle this another night...
