Maki sighed as she fidgeted a little. The heavy, ornamental kimono she was wearing was starting to itch. It seemed that the period drama she starred in earlier in the year had been a hit, so they were now ( Read more... )

With a small notepad in one hand, her mp3 player in the other, and a mechanical pencil tucked behind her ear, Kaho looked up just in time to dodge out of the way of a fellow assistant. After exchanging polite "Oh, I'm sorry"'s, she made her way towards the room where her new employer was gonna be.

"Excuse me..." Kaho muttered softly, letting herself in after lightly tapping on the door.

Maki shuffled a little as she tried to turn around to greet whoever had entered her dressing room. She smiled at the young woman who had arrived.

"Come on in." She waved her long sleeve as best she could to encourage the other to enter, rather difficult considering her hands were completely obscured by the voluminous folds of fabric. Realizing she hadn't met this particular staff member before, she attempted a polite bow, but found she couldn't do much more than lower her head. "I don't believe we've met before. I'm Horikita Maki." She chuckled quietly. "Please forgive me if I don't bow - I'm finding my costume to be a bit...restrictive at the moment."

"Excuse me," Kaho said again. She closed the door softly behind her and turned back towards the older girl, politely bending slightly. "I'm Kaho," she snickered softly upon seeing the other's distress, stifling the laugh with a hand over her mouth. "Ano, do you need some help?" Kaho walked over to the other and picked up a few folds of the kimono.

"Yeah, we've never met. I've been an assistant to some of the stars and staff member here." She examined the elaborate Japanese dress, wondering where to start first.

"I would love some help. How they expect me to get in and out of these things alone, I 'll never know." Maki tried to look around her person for some sort of hint as where a good starting point would be. She noticed that Kaho had been laughing at her, and wondered if, had she been a manga character, there would be a large sweat-drop beside her forehead. Oh well. Maki reasoned she probably looked rather funny. "In any case, it's nice to meet you Kaho-san."

"Oh! Here we go." Maki pointed to an end of her rather elaborate obi. "How about starting from here?"

"Nice to meet you, too," Kaho replied, hoping that she didn't sound too stand offish; her employers lately had been snooty and helping out another celebrity brat was not what she signed up for. "This is pretty," she remarked in a friendly tone, "You wore this for a recent drama?"

"Ah, that'll be easy." Kaho gently pulled on the fabric and slowly got to work at helping the actress out of her kimono.

Little by little, the lengthy obi around her waist was starting to feel looser, and Maki took a nice deep breath, sighing happily. "The kimono is quite stunning, isn't it? It's just too bad that it's so uncomfortable." Her quiet laughter was just audible above the rustling of the fabric. "I did indeed wear if in a recent drama. I'm reprising the role for a special we're filming now."

With the obi fully undone, Maki started to remove the ceremonial kimono, leaving her in a simple, white under-kimono. "Ahh..." Kimono's while pretty, could weigh a ton. Rolling her neck a bit, Maki held the kimono out to Kaho. "If you don't mind..." Her eyes drifted to the rack of costumes by the wall, as she checked her notes as to which outfit was next.
