can use my stove again

As of last night, we got power back on. We lost power a little after 5pm on Sunday night. So 3 days with no power. We lost some food, mostly meat, but still wasn't as much as it could have been if storm had gone through just a week later. Our fridge and freezer were nearly empty anyway. Bummed that we had to toss the salmon as it had thawed before we were ready to cook it. At least we got to eat the steak before it went bad.

No lights didn't bother me. I have lots of candles and flashlights. Kid did fairly well with no tv. He asked about it from time to time but didn't fuss when I told him it wouldn't work. He played more with his toys and puzzles. He started getting better able to do the 25 piece ones, with less prompting or frustration. I missed internet somewhat, but even I did fairly well. I got out one of my half finished cross stitch kits and have gotten a fair amount done this week.

The food thing was the most annoying part. We ended up running out to Meijer's, who still had power and was open, to buy a bottle of propane for our camp stove. It allowed us to cook our steak and other meals from the cupboard. I wasn't real comfortable using that but it at least worked. It helped keep us fed without spending money we couldn't afford to eat out. I admit to hanging out at my mom's place for the past couple evenings though for easier cooking and better lights. It made it easier to keep working on embroidery after it got dark outside. She got her power back after about a day.
