Went the the 10th annual MN Craft Brewer's Guide Autumn Brew Review yesterday with... Digi, Ian, Margot, Skippy, Emily, Emily's family & friends, some other people, maybe like 5,000 more? Anyways... here's what I can remember drinking:
- 21st Amendment Brewery - Hop Crisis: Had this towards the end of the day and loved it. Never have purchased any of their beers in the store because of their high price, but loved this hoppy beer. Kinda like Bell's Hopslam or Lagunitas Hop Stupid.
- Avery Brewing Co. - Czar Imperial Stout: Good, don't remember too much else.
- Big Sky Brewing Co. - Heavy Horse Scotch Ale: Good, very scotchy.
- Boulder Beer - Cold Hop: Alright, a bit strong tasting.
- Brewery Ommegang - Hennepin: Funny to try this for the first time. Too fruity.
- Choc Beer Co. - Belgian Amber: Did not like. Way too bitter.
- Cold Spring Brewing Co. - Cold Spring Cran-Razz: I don't even know why I tried this hard lemonade. Oh yeah, Digi.
- Dark Horse Brewing Co. - Plead the 5th Imperial Stout: I loved this beer. My choice of the day.
- Flat Earth Brewing Co. - Root Beer: We did go through a root beer phase during the middle of the day. This was a very good one.
- Flying Dog Brewery - Fresh Hop Ale: I think it was ok.
- Founders Brewing Co. - Cerise: A very strange cherry beer.
- Fox Barrel Cider - Pear: I just don't like cider too much.
- Glewwes Castle Brewery - Root Beer:: Good, spicy. In a good way.
- Gray’s Brewing Co. / Killebrew Beverage - Big Hole - Diablo: Almost like a dessert wine.
- Lakefront Brewery, Inc. - Fuel Cafe Stout: Good. Wish I could taste the coffee more.
- Lakefront Brewery, Inc. - Fixed Gear: Good. Kinda normal.
- Left Hand Brewing Co. - Sawtooth Ale: Rarely do I like bitter beer, but this was good.
- Magic Hat Brewing Co. - Hex: Very good malty beer.
- New Belgium Brewing Co. - Lips of Faith - Sahti: Very crisp and lip-smacky.
- New Holland Brewing Co. - Dragons Milk: Another beer that I see in the store for $8/bottle and never try. Good to know that I don't like it that much.
- Pig’s Eye Brewing Co. - Pit Bull High Gravity Ice Malt Liquor: Ssh, I just tried this one so I could take a sample of the beer nuts that they had at their tent.
- Sprecher Brewing Co. - Black Bavarian: I was hoping that they had some root beer, instead, just my favorite beer.
- Surly Brewing Co. - Four: Meh.
- Town Hall Brewery - Coconut Mango IPA: What a freaking awesome beer!
That's all I can remember. There were probably a bunch more right at the end. Here's a link to a pdf with the whole program if you care:
