Tuesday:
1:00pm - my mother's TV refuses to turn on despite all of our efforts
2:00pm - we discover that the lame company that made said TV has only one repair center in the country, though it is about an hour away from us
3:30pm - my father returns from picking my brother up from school, a brand new HDTV in tow
Thursday:
8:00am - my dad receives a return e-mail from the lame company, telling him to unplug the TV, hold down the power button for ten seconds, remove the batteries from the remote, and hold down the remote's power button for ten seconds
8:15am - this, inexplicably, works. Clearly the TV was manufactured in Narnia or Avalon or something.
Now that we have one extra TV, the debate is who it goes to. Before I even woke up (I don't have a job, I can sleep in) my mother pointed out to my father that my DVD player is built into my TV and I'd probably want that more than HD. Which I do, even more than I want the HD channels that come on east coast time. So my brother will probably come home from school today to find a giant TV in his room. His joy will be well worth missing out on those HD channels.
