My first experience at the quarry was in late summer of 2001. I remember my good friend, Jon Pope, exposing me to the beauty and tranquility of the quarry. Surrounded by forest and in close proximity to the Rappahannock River, the quarry quickly became one of my favorite places in the Fredericksburg area. I have spent many summer afternoons at the quarry swimming, canoeing, and cliff jumping. It truly is an amazing place.
Unfortunately, the quarry will be forever tainted by the recent drowning of a UMW student.
