summer is over... here comes winter!

Oh, well.
It was time to go  do this anyway.  I put it off long enough.  (Well, that's not completely true)  I was getting

mdonat
and Erika ready to go to Ohio  before Barb passed away, cleaning the old office, going to the funeral, Windycon, and then it was this weekend.. Thanksgiving is next weekend... (aaaaaah!) so, I had to do it this weekend.
Got the patio table, chairs, etc put under the porch in the crawlspace. It's nice and dry under there all winter.  I put the spearmint and chive pots under there too -mulched them and got them under cover.
Got the leaves from the front of the house out to the curb (Oak Park still picks up leaves) and did some more mulching. Leaf blowers are sooo much fun!
The backyard will have to wait -the backyard tree is a male Mulberry and it will drop around the first of December -all at once.
The yard looks much better, but empty without the patio table and chairs out there. It's too cold anyway. I got it neatened up, so now all I can do is wait for the mulberry to dump it's leaves.  This tree is such a pain.  It leafs out real late, weeps really sweet sap -sweet enough, that on hot days it ferments!, and drops late.  At least, it's a male, so we don't get the deep purple berries.  Sometimes, I'd rather not have such a big honkin' mulberry out back, but it probably saves us a bunch of $$ on energy costs, because it leafs out so heavily. Someday, it's going to come down, either by us or by a baaad storm -it's already got some serious guy wires up high in the tree..
