The past several days have been beautiful. I included lots of porch and deck time in my daily routine. I replaced the screen to our sliding glass door. That was a real hoot. I took it out on the deck to work on, while Buddy the "lug" chewed an old slipper on top of my head. I guess he has spring fever as well, cause I couldn't accomplish anything without his "help". He is part boxer part lab. His favorite type of play is wrapping his front legs around your legs when you walk. That's the boxer in him. Boxer's have double joints above their paws, this is how they protect themselves. Their dew claws then are perfectly positioned to "rip". And, rip they did. So, when we had him neutered we also had his dew claws removed. He was ripping us to shreds. Now all we have to do is try and not fall on our faces when he tries to tackle us. Boxers are also very family oriented and loyal. As are labs. So, except for his size he is a great dog. Well, I could do without the "drool" part of him. When I give him fresh water I have to empty and clean the "slime" out of it first. Gross. Our kitty peek-a-boo isn't too fond of his slime either. I am forever wiping the top of her head off where Buddy slimes her. This must be the lab part of him. Hunting dogs carry "scent" in their saliva. This is what makes blood hounds so good at tracking. The more the saliva the longer they can hold the "scent". Fortunately, Buddy usually only drools a bit after drinking from his water bowl. Unfortunately, if you walk through the kitchen in bare feet after he drinks you end up stepping in his slime. :-{ yuk
Hubby just came back from picking up his juice for making wine. Yum, it's going to be party time on the deck this summer. He made some great wine over the winter so we are very excited about this new batch he is starting. I gotta go and check it out. later........
