Yesterday was Victoria Day, which meant a nice day off work. For the third year in a row, it also meant firing up the barbecue and delivering a myriad of culinary treats to family and friends who came and went throughout the day.
This year was a good one, as we had over two dozen people show up between 11 and 6. A few stayed longer, some came a few times, while others didn't stay as long as they might've liked. There were some pleasant surprises, while I did wonder about a couple people I didn't see or hear from.
In terms of the menu for the day, we had a boneless pork loin, picnic pork shoulder, venison chops, Louisiana chicken wings (some with a Berry sauce), Souvlaki, and some pork sausage (regular and spicy italian). There was still plenty that I never even got too, some of which will need to be cooked today, including the ground venison and garlic pork sausage.
The only flaw in the day was how dreadfully warm it was. It got to the point where Stephen ended up spending more time upstairs with his mom, where there was air conditioning. She felt bad, but everyone understood. It was either up in the bedroom or down in the basement. The basement's truthfully a mess, and somewhat damp so the decision was the right one.
Hope those of you who were off enjoyed your day as well.
