Here's Some Tripe (D&D 4th Edition)

Dungeons & Dragons latest installment comes out tomorrow. The much discussed 4th Edition reaches shelves and the masses to reviews that are honestly all over the place. There's been so much done in the way of changes that people aren't sure how to react to it. Wizards Of The Coast has put some emphasis on online play and the opportunities that presents (so long as you pay their monthly fee to do so), which many see as a cash grab.

I won't lie. The more I have heard, the more skeptical I have been about the whole thing. However, like anything else, a fair shake is always deserved. Having the chance to read the new books a day early is a wonderful thing. It's given me insight into what I can honestly sum up as sheer tripe. There are so many changes that within the context of the game make sense. On a larger scale of simple logic, I've been left with nothing but a headache. Those that play the game would know what I'm talking about if I listed some of the things, but I won't bore the rest of you.

There's also a few things that they DID improve on. I won't lie about that. It isn't all bad, but there just isn't enough to make it remotely worth my while. Instead, I'll hope that more people don't share my opinion and jump all over it leaving their 3.5 edition material behind for me to snag at the used book store.
