I'm Getting Drunk With Jari Kurri and Reggie Jackson

May 18, 2008 10:17

While not entirely true, the three of us do share this special day. I'd like to send a quick thanks to those who sent wellwishes through e-mail or lj today. While it's mostly just another day (and maybe an excuse to try and get away with a few things), it's still appreciated.

Day One of the weekend feast was fairly eventful. There were concerns when as of 1:30 there was just Carla, myself, and wikie. Within the hour there were a few more however, and over the course of the day we ended up with 10 people. We laid waste to half the nuts, the shishkebobs, the last of the garlic sausage, and a box of hamburgers. I predict today will involve more food as I believe there will be more people.

A thank you to retrorocketman and dygitalpunk. For a combined birthday gift, they hooked us up with "Dick In A Box."

I also received a fine bottle of 12 yr. old Chivas Regal from farmoar and another friend, Ian. That was a pleasant surprise, as was the bottle of Yellowtail from wikie. Neither will go to waste.

Carla gave me a stylish dragon pendant, and showed me that a Mark Texeira sketchbook she snagged off of e-bay for me (it's en route).

In turn, she received her main gift from many people. Well, not the gift itself. We gave her a World Of Warcraft Blood Elf Rogue figure. While this is a gift for her, it's not the figure she's getting. You see, near the end of April I entered my e-mail address on www.figureprints.com with the idea that sometime down the road I would be able to have my Dwarven Priest brought to life. Imagine my surprise when I was drawn in the lottery to buy them, a week later. I was actually in the midst of typing an entry here on the situation, when it struck me that I could get one for Carla. Not having the money to cover the whole thing, I sent out an e-mail to friends. The response was positive. Then it was a matter of getting her some decent gear in-game for the sculpt. My awesome Guild helped out with that, as we decked her out when she hit level 30. The next morning I pulled up the figure and ordered it. That was April 29th. It's supposed to take a week to make, and three weeks shipping. It hasn't even shipped yet. Still, if it turns out nice it will be worth the wait, and pictures will be shared.

friends, carla, food, fun, wow, birthday
