And believe me, I know the feeling. I've been putting off Galaxies for soooo long because I knew it'd suck up all my time. But I have FFXI (that I still have never installed/played) that's been calling me to start. XD And watching my roommate beta-test-play Tabula Rasa (a brand new MMORPG) has been making me really wanna play. So when he told me he got the 14-day trial of Galaxies I was like "...you suck". XD;;;
The game is a ton of fun, despite it's drawbacks (but every game has something similar). And the fact that you can find landmarks, like on Tatooine visit the Lars' Homestead or find R2-D2 & C-3PO's original escape pod or visit Ben Kenobi's Hermitage, is really cool. You have to deal with Watto and Jabba, you meet Captain (now Colonel) Panaka and Captain Typho. You pass Boba Fett (unless you're a Bounty Hunter, then you can actually get quests from him). As a smuggler, you immediately meet Han & Chewie...
..yeah. It's fun. ^_^ We're debating on signing up for full service activation w/ monthly fee after the trial period is over (at least once both of us have steady-paying jobs...). ^^;;
My only thing is, as I said, I wish the profession system was back as it was, or different than it is now. *shrug*
I wasn't planning on it and then I saw it had to do with Star Wars and I was like, "... Fuck >.< *reads*"
Yeah, time is the reason for my self-imposed ban as well. I have a hard enough time keeping up with everything without worrying about tearing myself away to get to class. X D

Hmmm... I wonder if they'll change that. Maybe because they didn't want 20 million have Jedis?
... And I just got a horrible mental picture of a litte geeky boy saying, "I'm half Jedi, half smuggler and half Sith!" >X D
Yeeah. I actually almost missed karate practice last night because I didn't realize the time. "lalala..questing. Yay! Quest! lala- OH SHIT! Gotta go! *runs*" XD;;;

I hope they do, because there are way too many Jedi running around. When they first released the game, there were absolutely no Jedi, and you couldn't even become one (at least not easily). Then they released the ability to become a Jedi and it was like... "ZOMGJEDI!" -_-;; And now? Gods, too many. And yeah, from what I can tell, the majority of them are little kids or something (like an adult with the mentality of a kid). *sigh*

I actually watched someone go up to my roommate's character and be like "I'm a Jedi!", to which both of us were like "...yes, we could tell." (The clothing is a dead giveaway, but if it weren't... the Force Lightning certainly was.) Oh yes. That's another thing. Light Side Jedi can use Force/Sith Lightning. I find that messed up. -.-;
But if I could have my "ideal" character.. it'd be like my RPG chara. Jedi, smuggler, bounty hunter, "official"/diplomat. She doesn't act like a Jedi, instead stays underground and works as a smuggler/bounty hunter to earn credits and know the Underworld. That's what I'd like to do..but no. Can't. *sigh*
Ahahaha, I do that ALL the time. Especially when I'm playing a video game.

Yep... One of the reasons I didn't play Kingdom Hearts until my final semester of college. XD;;
Yeah. That'd be awesome if they did. XD "Yay, Jedi extermination! *kills*" Though I was laughing my ass off when I watched a Jedi get killed by another player. XD;;; (Yes, there is PvP - Player vs Player - in this game. And it is awesome.)
Yes, it sucks. They can use "Force Lightning" on any target. It's like the most common attack I see from any Jedi. Only once have I seen "throw (weapon, ex: sword)". In the amount of time it's taken my group member to throw Lightning, I've already reduced the target's health by half (and/or already killed them). -.-;;
The kid was "fighting", and by that... I mean aimlessly attacking a bantha for the hell of it. *rolls eyes*
That'd be nice, but somehow I doubt it. Considering there used to be like...20 professions and now there's 9? =T
It'd be one thing to secretly be a Jedi. Like, what you'd expect for that time period of the galaxy. The Jedi Order'd been wiped out, all remaining Jedi hunted down to be either turned to Darkness or destroyed. So you'd think you wouldn't see any Jedi at all.
But no. They are blatantly obvious. They have the stereotypical Old Republic Jedi garb that just screams "Hey, I'm a Jedi!". 90% of them carry their lightsabres, and then there's just about all of them that constantly use the "Jedi-only" Lightning attack. -_-;;;;
