Well, it's November now, time to put holiday behind us and look ahead to the next(except for those crazies at Meijer, skipping way ahead of themselves and putting up Christmas stuff.). Of course, I'm talking Thanksgiving. Of course, it'll be my sixth year now sans turkey, but I thought this year might be one to try something different. Since most of the festive meal is placed on my shoulders(figuratively speaking of course, it's traditionally served on to the family on the table.), every year I try to find new recipes and ideas to delight the diverse palette of my guests.
Now, I don't remember when Evan and I had first come across Hufu, or who showed it to whom, it doesn't really matter. Recently, though, Hufu has had a popularity spike, as over the past few weeks I've heard it mentioned on the radio and even the Daily Show. Why the sudden surge in popularity, I don't know, I'll just pass it off for good marketing. But I realized that this is the perfect to share dish of human-flavored tofu. It's symbolic of how thankful we are that we are given healthy(and legal) alternatives to eating human flesh rather than indulging our cannibalistic desires.
The real trident in the road is the cost. Not the cost of decency or freedom, but the cost of monetary funds. This stuff does not come cheap. While i don't have the appropriate figures in front of me, I remember it costing about $18 or so for about 100 grams (or 3.5 oz for you Hooligans). So, I guess this is where I announce the Make-Thanksgiving-A-Holiday-To-Remember charity, where you can help me afford enough hufu to, well "make Thanksgiving a holiday to remember." But, if I actually thought anybody was going to send me any money, I'd actually post an address or something on here. However, since I know nobody ever takes me seriously, and nobody will ever think me a cause worth donating money to(you could probably write it off on your taxes, but don't quote me on that), I won't waste my time.
p.s. Oo, I just noticed the Halloween theme on the LiveJournal header. How delightfully spooky!
p.p.s. If you're really curious about my Halloween costume, I've got some pics on myspace.
