My Thoughts...niccisawyerMay 10 2007, 10:02:31 UTC
It's so hard over here in the UK to see the shootings in the US...so very hard!!!
Without being graphic...it's just too hard to fathom what it must feel like to be alone, cowering and panicked wondering if you will be randomly picked off because some stranger is feeling the same way, it makes me so angry!!! Funny I haven't thought of the shooting since it happened but thought alot of it at the time...
All the while here in the UK the response remains the same - ban the Guns!!! Ban them!
It's just so unreal that someone can own a gun at 23...I haven't even seen one! Oh except as a little girl visiting my Dad at work in the Royal Air Force - a Security Soldier had one at the Gate.
For those of you that didn't know - we banned them after the Dunblane tragedy where 16 children were killed in a school along with their teacher...
I heard one response was that had students been able to carry firearms themselves at Virginia Tech they would have been able to defend themselves!
An eye for an eye makes everybody blind.
Don't get me wrong - people will always find a way to take the life of another regardless of the weapon of choice or the country they live in and it's current laws - no country is perfect in this - but there is something about the Gun. It's so utterly irreversable once you pull the trigger.
