Indian Summer

It was the perfect fall day outside this afternoon. Some trees are still holding on to summer and remain green, while others have given in and are turning gold, bronze and red. It was warm with just enough of a breeze to be comfortable in the sunshine. I love it. If I could find a place in this world that only had fall and spring, I would be a happy woman. I took my dog for a walk and she spent a good half an hour barking at corn stalks and fallen leaves. Total bliss.

The rest of my vacation was luxuriously lazy. I had a reality check on the first of October when I went back to work. I'm actually very happy to be back, and have been really productive in this past week and a half. I'm hoping this is a trend that will continue. The downside is that everyone at work seems to have passed around a nasty cold, so I'm drinking a couple glasses of orange juice a day and crossing my fingers when I get sniffly at night. I don't want that cold.

There's a hwardo test coming up. I keep telling myself I'm going to practice regularly but that plan always seems to fall through on me. The key may be to stop planning. I feel like I know my techniques though and will have everything at least memorized well enough to pass and look impressive during the one time we show off each technique. May we not spar, please let us not spar....I hate sparring at tests. The plastic headgear makes my head all sweaty and I end up looking like I just got out of a sweat bath. Ew.

I am starting a part time job up soon as well. I will be marketing some awesome products and leading a weight loss program. It should be a lot of fun and I really hope it becomes successful. A couple of successful business women (a writer and a long time real estate agent) are mentoring me and teaching me some management skills. I am so greatful to them all ready, even though I've barely started. I'll probably start talking about this when I've actually started up, but it's going to be very neat and I'm excited.

I just finished reading the novel "The Witches of Eastwick" and could not put it down. I thought the movie was good but those three women are far more wicked in the book. I have fallen in love with them. There is a sequal too, called "The Widows of Eastwick" and I plan on heading to the bookstore this weekend to pick it up. I must know more about them! I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a good read. It's written by John Updike too, and I've always loved his style of writing. Yes, I know it's not a book about Star Wars, but i was tryng something new for a change.

Well, I've just about written a novel myself....so now it's time to turn my computer off, brush my teeth and detach my kitten from my foam support pillow (edit that:she just went from the pillow to my laundry basket in two seconds *sigh*). I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather!
