Serendipity
I'm working in a coffee shop down the road from my apartment-- the better to avoid the lure of BRAVO's Thursday night line-up. This particular coffee shop has a few rooms. In the room I'm in, there's just one other girl, at the next table, working at her computer.
Over the soundsystem, they've just put on a Don McClean album, and it's "American Pie." The counter guy (in the next room) is singing along...
I feel the urge to sing along as well, and I look up and the girl is also singing. "It's contagious," I say.
"Yeah, you can't help but sing along with it."
And suddenly the whole coffee shop is singing "American Pie."
