So who’s the biggest geek?
Officemates Donovan and Molly discussing that he had finally gotten to the point in his training that he needed no more help from her, he was the Yoda of scheduling. This prompted Donovan to reply in a Yoda voice, “Learned much from you, have I.”
Molly: “Ok, now you’re scaring me. That was too far.”
Work ensues, until slightly later when Molly tells Donovan that he is on a station on “Datooey?.” (Tone of voice suggesting that she didn’t pay enough attention to Star Wars to get the details correct.)
“Tatooine?” Donovan suggested.
Molly replies, “Yeah.”
“Wasn’t Dantooine blown up?” I ask, then realize that isn’t right either.
Molly, quickly, and very matter of fact. “No. That was Alderaan.”
At which point Donovan outs Molly as a geek.
“Oh, yeah, that’s right, Dantooine was where the abandoned base was - the decoy the Princess said in order to get them to not blow up Alderaan.”
“And you call me a geek?” Molly asks, as she leaves.
It’s a good thing she left at that point too. Not five minutes later my cell phone rings. The “Star Trek: TNG” ring tone caused Donovan to almost fall out of his chair laughing.
