Man, so much going on. I'm such a terrible brother-in-law. Definitely slacking off in the homework department. But I'm way too good in the spending money department. Like a trip to Foxwoods ($150), a bowling ball ($150), GRE ($115), beer (too much). Damn. Took the GRE-general test this morning, woke up at the thrilling hour of 6:30 to get ready on-time. The test center was at Pease, so it was relatively easy to find. The testing associate said that if I was quick, I'd get out in three hours instead of the scheduled four. I strolled out after two hours with a 570 Verbal, 710 Math. That should be the last hurdle stopping my grad school application, so hopefully I'll be able to sign a contract at the end of next week. As it stands now, I'll be interning at Portsmouth High School, conveniently about a mile away from my current apartment. This is still all dependent on whether or not there's still an opening at PHS for me, but the coordinator-lady says there should be. It should be fun whether I'm at PHS or Noble, but I think I'd rather have John Moss to work with over Dave Parker.
Bought a bow
ling ball, she look a-like a-this:
The exact function of the weight block inside is still a mystery, but it works. It's darker in person, more of a deep green\steel mix. Although I did bust out with a 238 last week, 88 over average. That should be worth another beer glass. I'll have an entire set by the time this league is done. The next goal is 100 over-average, then I get a watch. For that I'd need to havea whopping 250 game, which would be another personal best. 705 is becoming more of a pain than I feel it is worth. Got my statement of philosophy back (finally), but I still don't have a feel for the direction I need to go with it. Got my 501 portfolio back; again there's really no direction given with it. Foxwoods was great though, a nice microcosm of the human condition. People who really shouldn't be wagering their retirement funds are the most desperate ones who just keep plugging quarters into the slots hoping to hit it big. It's fascinating and scary at the same time. Although I did succeed in losing $150 at the poker table in about two hours. But I was expecting to lose, so mission accomplished.
Is it bad that I spent thirty minutes this afternoon looking up the process for naming a new pope?
