I wrote Michel’s obituary:

Michel Rose David
September 10, 1988 - December 10, 2010

Michel Rose David passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 in San Diego, California. Her family and friends remember her as a vibrant, beautiful, and intelligent young woman who brought joy to everyone who knew her.

Michel was born in Oakland, California, and graduated from Pleasanton’s Amador Valley High School in 2006. She was a student at San Diego State University, and was to graduate this week with a BA in Journalism/Media Studies and a minor in International Relations. She was active in the university community as a “Lady Rho” in the Alpha Psi Rho mentorship program. Michel embraced adventure, traveling in the summer of 2010 to Costa Rica, where she volunteered at a sea turtle refuge and was in a Spanish immersion program. She was looking forward to a trip to Ecuador with her mother in January 2011 to celebrate her graduation. She loved and was loved by friends, family, and her dog Martini (“Bopper”).

Michel is survived by her mother and father, Lorie and Mando Alemania of Pleasanton, and her sisters Valeri Alemania of Pleasanton and Rachel David of New York City. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn David. She is also survived by her grandmother, great-grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michel’s family will miss her bright smile at their family gatherings but will always feel the presence of her radiant spirit.
