I've been a bit remiss in posting here, probably because I've started keeping an offline journal.
I had a brilliant time at Displacement Disorder and at Hanging Garden / Sinferno at the new venue, Cattivo. I liked the (literally) homey feel of Remedy's top floor, but this is definitely a step up.
Tomorrow I play my perennial haunt, the Garfield Artworks. It gets a lot of flack, but I like the place. I know Manny will always manage to run the sound just right, for starters. It won't be some bored, disinterested dude that's just there to collect an easy paycheck.
Bands and fans that have a problem with playing certain venues in this city (and I'm not just talking about the aforementioned place here), get over yourselves. We exist in an increasingly marginalized subculture, we've just been lucky in the past to have some really nice venues, but those were anomalies. For every Club Laga or Pegasus, there's been a Luciano's or Pluto's - a venue that's cheap, willing to take a chance on something weird, and doesn't require hundreds of people to cover all the overhead and fill up.
