sew yesterday eye went two mai oma n opa's house
mai opa really likes to talk
it actually usually starts two bug me n eye feel bad
but yesterday it didn't
i learned my opa and mai papa both had extremely interesting lives

met mai oma at a dance in november 1948
was in WWII on the german side
he came to america not speaking a word of english
he was a bartender
then he wasn't
he retired early
he ate really really weird stuff
that seems gross
but probably isn't

had tons of odd jobs
was told by my opa to go to alaska
went to alaska
was a landlord
met mai mama
stopped being a landlord
only went to college for two years
locked his keys in the car
bcause he was wearing a big coat
wants to take us to his old apartment because it's for rent
just so we can see it

this stuff makes me smile
oh and eye also learned that eating is probably the most social
and comforting thing that Germans do

ohyea and eye also finished my stupid Japanese book
that was possibly the most pointless book i've ever read
