the quietness of home

May 07, 2006 21:25

i am awake in you and dreaming still-
how does the world add up?
a meeting here
a connection there
a beauteous simplicity-
such is life?

we are neurons,
according to one boy i know,

and to Terryl Givens (a brilliant man),
we are all children
rushing, without end, backward into gentleness,
to a Genius
we have
yet
to perceive

but these talks are never quite enough

--i call for you,
in midnights

i call for you
because you have been with me

you have been with me
from the hour of darkest asphalt
to morning's quiet hello

and what i’m trying to say is
this:

there is something more,
chemicals are no excuse
