Are you guys seeing this? Have you looked out the window today? Have you seen the sky? Where are all the clouds? What city am I in today? Certainly not Seattle! Wait wait...it IS Seattle? I can't get over how beautiful it is today. I got up earlier than I needed to, and as usual, Gina wasn't talking. But I tied my hair in a knot, strapped on some shoes, and relished the morning with Tori Amos, walking down the street on my way to the gym. I totally worked out, and not only that, but I stayed way longer than I usually do. Then, when I got home, I checked my email as I was getting ready to take a quick shower before class...only I got an email from my professor saying class was cancelled today. Um, okay! No complaints here! So I got to take a long shower and relish the unusually good mood I was in. And ohmygawd! I look totally cute today!
Then it was chorus rehearsal, which went really well. We are starting to backtrack in preparation for our awesome upcoming performance (which you should all come to.) And then lunch-wow. So bright! I literally squinted because of the abundance of sun! I have missed squinting from the sun! It reminds me of back in California when I used to wear SUNGLASSES! And when I was eating some really light pasta alone, I looked out the window and Mt. Ranier was just glowing right next to me - it looked like it was a block away. It stood out in the light like there was a choir sweetly singing "Ahhhh" right behind it. So lovely.
So of course as I am leaving the cafeteria, I take the long way to the computer lab, which passes the mini-park courtyard. And I was so pleased to see so many people sitting on the park benches. When I went to walk past them, I inhaled deeply so I could take in the sweet scent of the Spring and all the lovely plants in bloom, when I stopped abruptly with a hacking cough. Ok so apparantly all those people on the park benches were not out there so much to relish the sun, but to smoke in it. So when I expected the smell of berries, I got a really good whif of tar and carbon monoxide. It was really cool.
So today is totally awesome thus far. But I think it is God compensating me for having a really messed up night. Right as I was about to go to bed last night, I was struck with a sudden panic attack. I tried talking to people, but they all went out for food, and then I wrote a massive email to Nicole. But the real saving grace was my buddy Zac, who effectively coached me through it...through the IM. Looking back on it, it was totally comical. I was just like, "Zac, I'm having a panic attack. Will you just talk to me for like five minutes?" He was like, "...Who is this?" Cracked me up. But he stuck with me through what ended up being more like a half hour, and it was lovely. I think I might have even gotten him to come to Rocky next month. And wouldn't that be cool? Yes, yes it would be cool.
