Thought of running some legacy code i had written in first year of engineering to control this robot i had made called 3LER (read "thriller"). it used to run on this thing written in TurboC++ under win98 ( Read more... )

you should find something called gpart on a knoppix disk. apparently it can guess your partitions. there's also something called 'testdisk'.
pestering mrinal might help ;-)

Hey dude, thanks. I landed upon testdisk while trying to find stuff in google. Got 3 out of 4 lost drives back. Managed to retrive data of interest from the 4th one. could not retrive the partition itself because of some conflict.

Before i tried testdisk, i tried stuff called 'Partition Doctor' and 'File scavenger'(demo version for both). They showed me ALL my lost drives, but slapped me on my face with a 'buy this for 49$' popup when i hit the retrieve button :-p

You @%$#$! You got any idea how much of my code was sitting in those disks of yours ?? Me get angry. Me smash you. Lol...
Besides, do you really think it will run on Turbo C++'s default memory model? Remember what happened when we tried *that* out last time...hmmm...two years ago maybe ?
Anyway, best of luck with your recovery. I mean your hard disk's :-P

chill. recovered everything :D

will be backing up everything starting tonite on DVDs

Btw, this was not even the first time. i lost whole of COMRADE's IPU codebase and i have been cursing myself for a year now. All i have is a version which is pretty old

and also, i had lost the final version XII std project code...
