Damn, you spent a lot of time writing that all up! Gonna publish it somewhere? lol I agree with you completely, and it is horribly depressing that our supposedly educated society has sunk into such a pathetic view of male/female roles etc... But what makes it worse is that WE (as a society) are what allows it to happen! we do not have a tyrannical government enforcing horrible things on women, or sexual assaults etc, it is our society that has allowed it to happen, and has allowed that mindset to be the "norm," and that keeps making it happen by going along with all of it, Cosmo, MTV, supermodels, the list goes on...
Bleh. My cousin wrote a blog on myspace a while ago, saying that her 6 year old (almost 7) daughter came out in her gym suit that she was excitedly wearing to school since she had PE that day, and asked "Do these pants make me look fat?" (she's not a stick, but she is NOT overweight AT ALL, and plus shes 6! should NOT be worrying about it!) My cousin said she was speechless....to hear that coming from a 6 year old. But that is what we have conditioned women to think like!!! From barbies to Victoria's Secret catalogues that I swear are soft core porn....its ridiculous. And I could probably write up a rant as long as yours, but I should be writing a philosophy of math essay (yuk.)
