The problem I see with Christian groups trying to build social consensus for a theocratic government, or at least for recognition of a Christian basis for our Constitutional government, is one of influence: Who is pushing the leaders of the Religious Right to push the populace to think of their faith and our government as needing to interact in this way? Rich, powerful, mostly white, mostly male interests, to include but not limited to fossil fuel and military/weapons manufacturing magnates, are steering the ship, I feel. There may be a nodding, reluctant acceptance for now to separation of church and state, but separation of corporation and state won't happen until Citizens United gets overturned, and that might not happen until we elect someone like Sen. Sanders or Sen. Warren to the highest office. At least, though, we can reverse the majorities of manipulative magnates' minions in Congress. I hope we do. I hope this disastrous election and its choices motivate us to do so. But we have to defeat the racists, not the least reason being that, whatever their personal motivations, THEY ARE BEING MANIPULATED TO PERPETUATE A SYSTEM THAT PROVIDES THE RICH AND POWERFUL WITH PROTECTIONS AND FREE LABOR.
