4. Down the Vadhdhada Fe'archu

The doctor Elab Korat arrived at the Alegani army camp, and began to inspect and reform the medical station, staffed by a half-trained assistant. Meanwhile, the main group descended the great mountain Nelfonad Mea'a, with Khus Afav and her assistant Ghir Kama'al. They came to where they could see Vadhdhada Fe'archu, Red Canyon, in which Elab Korat had been held captive. The Churgani were camped upstream and the Alegani downstream. The trail which they followed descended into the canyon above the Churgani camp, a dangerous situation. Unable to cross the flooded Gutat Ke'arat, the Hat River, the group pondered how to get to the Alegani. As sister Afav was exhausted and frail, the group considered climbing back over the mountain and retracing their steps, then abandoned the idea. Finally Chajin, the acrobat, offered to tie a rope sling and lower the group one by one to the valley floor down an 80m cliff. He had enough rope for this task, fortunately.
The group were lowered one by one, and Professor Vellalt stayed with sister Afav while old Yee Munay combed a nearby grove of trees for soft boughs, onto which the chest of ancient devices was lowered. Finally Chajin himself spider-climbed down the cliff and the group set out, in the night and rain, for the Alegani camp. Enemy patrols failed to find them, and since Elab Korat vouched for them, they were admitted to the camp.
Speculation ran rampant as the possibility of battle, since the Churgani were up the canyon with a force of unknown size (Elab Korat had not counted them) and probably had some goal there.
The next game session will reveal the truth.
