Oscar and Kip
I was rereading (via Full Cast Audio) a favorite book and noticed a few things. The wormfaces were killed by the Mother Thing's mother-of-all-bombs while they were eating. This happened right after Kip and Jock were blue-lighted and Jock disappeared. Wormfaces eat people.
The bomb went off while the wormfaces were eating Jock.
Yuck.
The president of MIT, "Oppie", is Oppenheimer, right?
The audio description of Wormface creeped me out, even though I've read the book twenty times or more. His voice almost made me crawl out of my skin....I clapped for the Mother Thing. She was awesome.
It struck me this time....Heinlein advanced the thought that motherhood was a job, not a biological destiny, and men could nurture, too. Anatomy shapes destiny but it is not destiny all by itself.
And yes, yes!, YES!!!, Iunio was a centurio of the Sixth Victrix! Yes, I had heard of the Sixth before, long before.
