so on thursday the 16th of march i read from the torah. we all kind of alternate doing it. I read vishamru because i thought it would be cool to see something we say all the time in the torah. and it was cool. so i went to ulpan after and then i RUSHED back to my room, showered, packed and RAN to the bus stop in less than an hour.
i went with jess, shawna and kellie to the bus stop and then we went our separate ways. i had a very lovely bus ride to jerusalem. it was MUCH quicker than the train which i enjoyed. when i got there i called ali and she told me to go to the dunn gate at the old city. so i cabbed it up and headed over. once there her phone was off, and i didn't know what to do cause i didnt actually know where she was. i stood infront of the westernwall for a while just looking at its awesomeness and then finally i got a phone call from ali. i met her at the southern wall and life was perfect. the program she was on seemed very cool and they even worked on our insect safari at lotan. crazy how everyone is connected. after we went on a tour we hung around in the old city shopping and then we got on a bus and went to their amazing hostel. i wish it was more centrally located because it was beautiful. if you ever need a hostel, the Yitzhak Rabin House is the one to pick. Once there we all hung out and had lovely conversations about our backgrounds and life. then we got on the bus again and headed to ben yehuda street. their leaders showed them the boundries and then ali and i went off. we met up with my friend adam from england and headed over to the Book Shop Cafe which was DELICIOUS. right after ordering, NOA came and met up with us and ate with is. so life was even more perfect. I mean i was sitting at a table with Ali, Noa and Adam. it was awesome. then jess from england came and met up with us. we walked around and ended up at the Blue Hole which is a pub that mostly israelis go to. two of noas roommates showed up and jess' friend isaac. THEN, it was time for ali to leave, and it was really sad because it was so nice seeing someone from home.while walking to alis meeting place we ran into wes peskin, aaron taylor and matt reber. it was a small world. they walked with us to where ali had to go. and then i walked noa to the bus stop and then jess, adam, isaac and i were just hanging out debating where to get the taxi when karen and kat showed up. it was really nice to see them but isaac and i really wanted to go back to machon. and then adam left so it gave me even more reason to go back.
we got in a taxi and went back to machon. machon is the program jess and a few other netzer kids are on. its all people not from the states and they do intensive studying. so we hung around their dorms, i met some of jess' friends and saw GUY and then went to bed.
in the morning we got on a bus. (which i was terrified to do but didnt have enough money to take a taxi alone) and went to the bus station to go home.
once in haifa, jess and i got ready for shabbat. then carmel went to Anats house and jess went to families. at anats we held a really nice service and then had a DELICIOUS dinner of lasagna, salad, potato cassarole, cream of mushroom soup, homebaked cookies, and fruit salad. it was a beautiful apartment, very spacious and had a lot of cool rooms, anat said her family has owned the apartment since her parents got married.
afterwards we went back to school and mari, jess and i watched "delovely" then talked with jenn and then went to bed.
saturday was lauras birthday. her and i led services. then we all just hung around. at 5 we went to the beach to have havdallah and a bonfire. havdallah was hard because the beginning part didnt work because of peoples maturity level but then havdallah went fine. we had dessert hobo packs which were: banana, pineapple, chocolate, and marshmellow. mm good. OH and i forgot to mention, guess who came and met up with us at the beach..thats rightt..adam margolis and his girlfriend!!
after the beach carmel and noy went to shatially (a hookah bar/restaraunt) on the beach. jake and a few of his friends showed up and jake kept asking laura out and it was hilarious. then we came back to school and hung out.
sunday we had beit midrash which wasnt that bad. we had a lecture on the upcoming elections which was really helpful. and we got to leave at 4! because they changed the schedule. its amazing to get back at 430 instead of 530.
at night there was a smoke ring lesson which was very informative. then we all went to bed.
and nothing else has really been going on this week.
