Bruce R. La Plante
(March 24, 1954 - September 2, 2008)
Bruce R. La Plante, 54, longtime Green Bay area resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, after battling esophageal cancer. He was born Mar. 24, 1954, to Ralph and Beverly (Mommaerts) La Plante. He graduated from Green Bay West High School and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a Bachelor of Science in Math and Computer Science. Bruce was a Master of Science candidate at UWGB and was employed as a lecturer in the Computer Science Program. He had previously been employed as a Systems Analyst and Data Base Analyst at Kimberly-Clark and Shopko. He married Judy Kornowski in 1975. She preceded him in death in 1997. He married Janet (Jensen) Meyers in 2002. Bruce was a district representative and committee chairman for the Democratic Party of Brown County and was a founding member and vice president of the Green Bay Chess Association.
Survivors include two children, Jessica (Paul) La Plante-Wikgren, Sean La Plante; a stepson, Logan Meyers; his wife, Janet; three brothers, Kevin (Kathy) La Plante, Grant (Debbie) La Plante, Scott La Plante; two sisters, Suzanne (Peter) Neerdaels, Linda La Plante; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; a stepson, Austin Meyers; and his parents.
