Well I know it has been more sporadic my posting than it used to be. But life is just that way. Right now we are down to one computer and it is old and slow and doesn't have Semagic on it so posting is one of those things you say 'eh well maybe later'
but here I am today posting. A lot has been going on. Mike and I are doing better than we ever have. Openness and communication are key to his recovery and that has led to some wonderful conversations and sharing by both of us. I really feel this is the next wonderful stage of our marriage.
It comes at a great time too. Alex is officially registered (well will be when I send that paper in) with the school board as a homeschooler. We wen oh homeschool curriculum fair this past weekend. While I was a bit disappointed in the scant showing of actual curriculum dealers there, I found what I needed. Any homeschoolers who are reading this, please give me feedback either way on the ones I have chosen.
Reading(he cant read yet)- ACE (accelerated Chrsitian education) the phonics program -they have full curriculum but we will use them for reading/english for a while. they use the pace booklets.
Math-Right Start Math it is hands on tactile and uses a more eastern manner of counting with an abacus. I think he will be better at a tactile learning system and the only other one I know of is Math u see and i was not impressed at all by them. Besides, I think in more of an 'asian' math manner(was tested once only reason I know) so it will be easier for me to teach with this one.
Science- Apologia- only because Alex insisted on science this year. I was only going to do math and reading and a bit of soc. studies, but he loves science so we going to go with them
Social Studies/World awareness- we are using Apologia's 180 days around the world book and workbook.
If any of you know anyone selling any of the non-consumables of these items or have any feedback on them, I would be greatly appreciative to know about it.
I am planning Alex's birthday party for next Tuesday evening it is an australian kid's themed arcade and pizza place like chuck e cheese or showbiz. www.olliekoalas.com i think it is only in jacksonville, but it sounds cool. With the heat this time of year an outdoor birthday is just out of the questions unless it is at 3am:(
Well, I am off to finish planning some things and getting it all in order for the next week. Mike is at promise keepers this weekend- it is in town so he will be home at night. I have a few things to finish out for my route tomorrow and then for planning the birthday.
I am doing well, I am happy, and that is good. but most of all i am just relishing what God is giving me right now.
