Reason #2568

(Another in the continuing series of why I am leaving Florida the first chance I get.)

No one stopped.

Not one witness stayed.

No one else called 911.

Instead, they went around our slightly wounded vehicle - some honking - and kept going on whatever important task they had at 10:38 on a Saturday morning.  Never mind that said vehicle was obviously pushed violently against the curb with damage on the passenger side, and the driver was running down the street to check on the other vehicle (and to make sure it hadn't actually taken off), or that it was a somewhat blind curve and it would have been nice to have someone further back with blinkers flashing until we could get our vehicle moved.

No one stopped.

And through the waiting for the deputy, and the reports, and phone calls, and the rental car today, I kept flashing back to one incident I had a number of years ago along a much emptier road outside of Minot, North Dakota:

I had spun out on a ice and slush covered road and landed in a drainage ditch alongside the road.  No one called 911 (which is normal up there that time of year unless someone's hurt or the car's damaged) - but no fewer than 5 other vehicles stopped to make sure I was ok, one would not leave until someone got there to pull me out...and at least 2 other vehicles had stayed to make sure our truck COULD pull me out.

This was all on a road that had maybe 15 cars go by in a half hour period during what would pass for rush hour there.

More than that saw our accident this morning.

And not one stopped.

(Note:  As I said above, we're both ok - will just be sore tomorrow most likely.  Car has some front end damage on the passenger side.  We didn't get the ticket.)

(still sucks)

why?, the matrix
