FCBD & lack of inspiration

May 11, 2010 21:20

What's up, LJ? It's been awhile since my last real post, hasn't it?
I haven't really done anything terribly interesting since Free Comic Book Day.

It was really fun, I hadn't been to a FCBD event since sometime back in high school. The small shop near my house ran out of free books incredibly fast. They opened at 9, I got there at 11, and was distracted by their 10-for-a-dollar comic book sidewalk sale and didn't make it inside the store until around noon and everything was already gone. But I managed to dig up some good stuff in the sidewalk sale, so it was totally worth it. 12 books for less than the price I'd normally pay for just one? YES PLEASE.

I ended up getting my free books from another store, including a signed copy of The Sixth Gun, which you can totally read online here. It's a pretty cool western/supernatural indie-comic.
I also got to meet some guys that worked on Atomic Robo, who gave me even more great free stuff in the form of more Atomic Robo, and some other titles they'd worked on: Drone, and Abyss. I haven't actually read Drone or Abyss yet, but I liked Atomic Robo a lot more than I thought I would. It's cute and fun stories about a robot going on ADVENTURES. Like... a more kid-friendly, robotic, Indiana Jones. You know you want to read some.

I've been feeling kind of creative lately... or rather, I want to draw things, but I lack inspiration. What do you guys do when you need some sort of prompt/jump-start/inspiration for art or writing, or anything creative? I NEED IDEAS. :/
I should also do more finished pieces... but usually I don't like my doodles enough to actually do anything with them.

TORA & BEA. Bea looks like a man. D:

TIM. ♥ TIM, STOP BEING SO ATTRACTIVE. EXCEPT NO. DON'T STOP. JUST DON'T MARRY TAM, BECAUSE I THINK TIM-TAM IS THE STUPIDEST NAME EVER.

BOOSTER AND SCOTT ARE AWESOME BROS BECAUSE THEY'RE DUDES WITH COLLARS.
Man, I miss Booster's collar. D: I'm looking forward to seeing it again in the upcoming back-to-the-JLI-era issues. Oh, and Ted too, but that goes without saying.
TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED ;-;

HAIRCUT APPOINTMENT TOMORROW, HECK YEAH. My hair is like... boob-length right now, and I really don't want to go back to having long hair. I think mid-length probably is what looks best on me, but I really like short hair. So I've decided to let my hairdresser hack it all off and get a pixie cut.
