friendships change - take two
"Basically your friends are not your friends for any peticular reason. They are your friends for no peticular reason."
This quote reminds me of a lot of people.
Sarah, band kids in general, Jon and Gerald, the sisterhood, Jonathon, Jade.
Basically what I've come up with is that you choose people to share experiences with. Like literally you just choose them, and then those experiences give you a base for a future relationship.
Not to overanalyze...
"A friend is a person with whom I may be sincere. Before [him/her] I may think aloud."
This is true of me for a lot of people. I hope that I am sincere before everyone I know. But I don't truly think aloud before very many people. I share some of my thoughts with a lot of people. I share a lot of thoughts on certain topics with certain people. But I share most all of my thoughts with only a few people, Sammy, the sisters, and Jonny and Anthony, at times.
"Friendships change-
and that's okay."
The perfect example of this is Rachael. Whom she and I had a huge falling out years ago but then more recently have come to be really good friends again. And she just knows me, because we were best friends from birth to age 14. So that really helped.
Another good example of this is friends leaving for college.
It's okay that our friendships are changing. It's a good thing actually.
People, in general, can't live in the past because it takes away from the present, not to mention the future.
"A friend is someone who can sing you the song of your heart when you've forgotten it."
This quote in particular reminds me really only of Sammy. Because one time when I really was depressed, about what I don't really remember. Something with college. But then she just reminded me of everything I had hoped for and aspired to, and that even if other people were moving in different directions, I could still do what I wanted to do, in a different way. That's what I got from it anyway. And I really appreciate it. And you. :) Thanks.
I suppose in a way this could remind me of Rachael too... because sometimes she can sum me up a lot better than I can.
In fact, I bet a lot of people could if I ever gave them the chance.
So in a really big way, this is the middle of a tribute to all my friends which started a while ago and hasn't ended yet.
Thank you everyone.
You are all a huge part of me.
I mean this literally. You'll see.
I love you, and I appreciate you.
Even when I don't seem like I do.
It's hidden there, somewhere deep inside me, that maybe even sometimes I don't see.
And sometimes, it's up to you to sing that song back into my heart. :)
