Yesterday in my english class we watched this video about Shakespeare, and in it, they were all up and about whether Shakespeare was who we really thought he was and whether maybe all his work was actually written by the Earl of Oxford at the time - Edward Devire (sp?) - and how maybe he actually wrote it all because he had a more typical background for it. And all the while as I was watching it, I just kept thinking, why do people care so much? I mean seriously... he wrote what he wrote, and a lot of it is fantastic, so maybe he wasn't a poor helpless farmer dude... does it make a difference? Why would someone devote their whole life to proving who Shakespeare was and why and stuff? I mean.. it seems rather pointless
