Open ended post

Okay, I'm opening the floor for interesting names for my future dog. You have to give a good reason why I should choose that name. Nothing like Fido or Rover. And no repeats, like a dog whose name you heard and liked. Reach deep into your bag o' allusions. Then give me the name and what the allusion is. I haven't looked into it myself but I'll post my ideas later.

BTW it'll probably be a golden retriever, and it'll be a male.
