Brain dump

Larry didn't get the job in Mesquite. Still haven't heard from Lewisville, should do so on Monday. Ack. We may actually HAVE to Do the December Deed at this rate.

Bill Cosby is going to get beaten up some more. That's sad, because having taught poor-to-lower-class kids for 18 years, I can tell from experience that what he's saying is the truth - about EVERY race, not just his own, and I'm including MY own in that statement.

Cosby: "For me there is a time ... when we have to turn the mirror around," he said. "Because for me it is almost analgesic to talk about what the white man is doing against us. And it keeps a person frozen in their seat, it keeps you frozen in your hole you're sitting in."

Jesse Jackson, at the same event:: "Bill is saying let's fight the right fight, let's level the playing field," Jackson said. "Drunk people can't do that. Illiterate people can't do that."

Jackson's probably going to get fried right along with him. Normally I think he is SUCH a tool (::cough Hymietown cough::) that he had it coming to him, but this time he really is trying to do what's best for his people - even if it means administering a sobering kick in the pants instead of simply playing the race card.

Weird stuff about the Bush ad juxtaposing photos of Hitler with prominent Democrats:
The ad's Nazi stills are drawn from a video equating Bush with Hitler that was submitted in January to the Web site of the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org as one of 1,500 submissions to a contest. MoveOn denounced the submission and removed it from its Web site following complaints about the content.

The Bush campaign, disregarding MoveOn's denunciation, says it created its Web advertisement using the Nazi clips from the rejected submission in order to educate its supporters about the "hatred and vitriol" emanating from the Democratic camp.

So...you're going to complain (and RIGHTFULLY) about the ad - then turn around and make your own version of it? Dumb and Dumber, right here, Ladies and Gentlemen. Step right up.

The whole article is in The Forward, a Modern Orthodox (and fairly liberal, for all that) NY newspaper.

And I have NO words for this: A jury awarded $17 million to the husband of a woman who slowly suffocated while trapped in a milk plant machine that her supervisor allegedly refused to shut off.

10-15 people stood around and watched her die because they "didn't know how" to shut the machine off. Uh, how about turning off the electricity? Sweet whistling Moses.

Have a nice day. :)
