The trip to and the beginning of 2009

Happy 2009 everyone!

Last night was crazy.  Dan (one of Trent's highschool friends) works for a company that puts on an annual benefit ball for the American Cancer Society and this year they moved it to be a New Years Eve Gala.    We dressed up all pretty, packed over night bags and headed out to Novi for the party.  We had drinks with Micah and Erin (other high school friend and wife) and headed to the banquet center.  It was alot of fun, complete with wine tasting, an open bar, a mashed potato bar and a few really awesome bands that played the whole night.  We finally left after 1am, post-partied in Dan and Annie's (Dan's finacee) room until after 3am, and then finally Trent asked that I pull over to a hotel so we could get a room there instead of driving the half an hour  back to his house.  I was sober so it wasn't necessarily for my benefit as much as so that we didn't have to deal with drunk drivers, suspicous cops and so that we could get some sleep.
Got up this morning, showered and after checking out, we did breakfast with all the guys and gals (Dennis is the last high school friend left unmentionted, and his date, Kate).  Most of us were too hungover to actually eat or too overtired to really eat a whole lot.  Trent and I went back to his house where we changed and relaxed, had the neighbors stop over to check out my ring, and then we napped until finally the boys called to ask where we were and why we weren't partying.  We all went to Dennis' parents' place where we had football on the big screen and a whole spread of food, courtesy of his mom (Dennis lives in LA now so he stays there when home and his mom loves cooking for everyone he brings in to see him while he's in town).   Finally after a while, Trent dropped me back here and I'm chilling at home, literally and figuratively.  I should be doing something productive like cleaning or doing laundry or finishing my book, but I'm lazy.
Tomorrow I start housesitting for a month at the place nicknamed the Cat House.  Obviously this family has cats.  It's cool I get to stay there but it throws off my routine a little bit.  Also, it means I have to pack up everything for my semester and that's no fun either.  It takes forethought and attention and stuff.  I'm not so good with either.    However tomorrow is a full day of seeing all my out of town friends before they go home then moving into this other house.  It'll be good in a way but in others, I'm really really looking forward to just being able to chill out and veg and not have to bounce from party to party to gathering to gathering.   I'm almost looking forward to going back to school and work.

Either way,  I wish everyone all the best in the new year.  I hope 2009 is great for everyone.  :)
