Hmmm, a new vocation for Clarkie?

Well, not likely - I've spent the last 14 years fooling people into thinking that I'm "a little bit good" at what I do already!

Anyways, I'm about to become a published photographer too! I had a nice surprise this morning after receiving an email through Flickr saying a couple of my photos of Sydney and the surrounds have been nominated for a travel book being put together about Sydney/Australia - they were asking for my permission to use them. Sure! (I did check their website so it's real...)

If you're vaguely interested, do the clicky-clicky here for my Aussie Adventure photos...
Or clicky-clicky here for all the other sets of photos...

One person who I do think should be a successful, published photographer (not only is it her dream but she has real talent) is JR's neice, Melissa. I've gotten to know his sister and her family a bit more over the last year or so and love catching up with them (more so when they come to Sydney). On our way up to the Whitsundays last December, we stopped off and spent a couple of days in Mackay (for those not familiar the Mackay Region is on the coast of North Queensland) with the family.

Melissa has been snapping for a while and showed us 100s and 100s of her photographs - I was taken aback by the quality. Working in the media, I deal a lot with photographers, etc so I told her how good I thought her "eye" was. I'd love to see her develop and hone her skills and take steps to becoming a professional photographer. Here are a couple of her shots that she sent to us (you'll have to forgive her version of a watermark).

I know some of you are talented too, so if you have any advice for a budding photographer...I'd appreciate any comments/tips I can pass on :)
