parenting - the beginnings of perspective

About a week ago I spent some time looking through pictures of Sagan on flickr from the beginning til now. It was a powerful experience because it really brought home how far we've come and how amazing the ride has been - and also how fucking hard it was in the beginning. There was so much joy and awe, but the work was constant and I was constantly ( Read more... )

You do rock mama. I also really feel everything you said. My only baby boy was a handful as a babe, never let me put him down, nursed all night for two years, projectile vomiting when a babe. However, it's all so worth it, and it does get better, and I'm glad Sagan is doing great. I know that you guys have been awesome parents - and don't all new parents feel like - what? who left me responsible for this tiny human???? at least at the very beginning.

On a TMI personal note - I vote for the awesomeness of vasectomies, and would be happy to share with you my horror IUD story... I got one a few months postpartum, and had it for 4 years - worse thing ever! Made me very ill, had increasing long bleeding, spotting, shortening of cycle, then random pain, and decided to have it out. It turns out it had gotten partially embedded in my uterus, and was sick for months after having it finally removed by the suction machine (normally used for abortions) while crying for heavy drugs. It took me a couple years to recover energy wise after having it removed.

Vasectomies rule!!!! Also, they are reversible, if you really changed your mind, rather than making a sperm bank deposit ;) I know folks who reversed the vasectomy after the guy recovered from cancer and they decided to have another baby.

I have experienced only positive side effects from the vasectomy :)
