If you're happy and you know it...

So I'm going back to the Bridgewater tomorrow and am feeling a little conflicted. I want to go back and see my friends, and I'm ESPECIALLY excited for my new classes to start as I have some really cool ones this semester, but I'm also enjoying the sleep until noon and hang out time as well. I'm going to miss my friends from home. I just wish I had a car on campus.

I went to see Derrick today and he's just getting better and better everytime I go up there. They capped his trachia pipe, so he's physically able to talk. The muscles in his throat might take a little while to remember how to force air through his vocal chords, but he's moving along really well. He kind of said "hi" today, it was just really breathy. The nurse who was on duty today was talking to him like he was a baby and I got pissed off and had to walk out of the room. I felt bad, though, because I know she's only trying to help him, and she IS really nice, but he knows everything that's going on, and I can see him getting frustrated and embarrassed when this lady is using small words and practically shouting them into his ear as slowly as possible. I mean, I would just think that someone who deals with patients like Derrick all day every day would know better. Whatever, at least her intentions are good. It could be a lot worse.

He gave me a kiss on the cheek today and I felt very special. lol. When I told him I was leaving he wrote a word in his notebook that I couldn't figuire out. It was either "kiss" or "piss." haha, so I looked at him and he puckered his lips. It was hysterical. He smiled and coughed, so I'm assuming he tried to laugh. It was a good time.

Other than the fact that I am apparently taking advantage of long term hospital patients, there's nothing new to report. I'm still reading A Million Little Pieces and slowly so as to savor EVERY WORD because it's GREAT. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do, but it's pretty life-changing. Olga likes it, so I guess that should be expected. The girl's got good taste, I guess I'll keep her. lol = )

Well that's all. I'll update tomorrow after my favorite activity in the world: RE-ORGANIZING MY DESK! And no, that was not sarcastic, lol, I really like doing it. As sad as I'm sure that sounded, it's a good time.

Have a nice night!
